How to Preview the Template on Specific Term/Category?

By default the archives template (while editing in editor or previewing) is not connected to any existing archive page. If you wish, you can specify some existing taxonomy and term to serve like a reference for showing you how your template will look like after applying it:

Elementor

  • While editing your template, go to Settings and open Preview Settings

  • In "Taxonomy to Preview Dynamic Content" choose the taxonomy of your preview term and in "Select Term" search and select your desired term for archive template preview

  • Click on "Apply & Preview" button to apply the preview settings to your archives template

In this way you can create custom templates for archives of any taxonomy in an easy and visual way by previewing the end result directly in the editor.

WPBakery

For TheGem WPBakery theme version, you can select the preview term directly in WPBakery using the options provided in the top bar:

  • In "Taxonomy" you can choose the taxonomy of your preview post
  • In "Term" you can select your desired term for template preview
  • Click on "Apply" button to apply the preview settings to your archives template
